Kingfisher flight makes emergency landing in Delhi

A Kingfisher Airlines flight carrying 118 passengers on Saturday made an emergency landing at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport in New Delhi - barely a few minutes after it took off for Mumbai.

"The commander got an alert from one of the systems on board. He decided to return to Delhi and get this (alert) checked," a Kingfisher Airlines official told IANS.

Flight IT 304 from Delhi to Mumbai took off around 9.00 a.m. but returned after a few minutes, the official said.

"The aircraft made a normal landing and taxied on its own to the parking bay," he added.

The airline company said all passengers on board who had to go through emergency landing protocol and subsequent evacuation procedures were safe and an alternate aircraft was arranged to ferry them to Mumbai.

"Within an hour, an alternate aircraft was arranged for the passengers. The flight was successfully operated," the official said.

Kingfisher launching Mumbai flight

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kingfisher Airlines has announced the launch of nine new flights on its domestic network, including one between Mumbai and Thiruvananthapuram.

With this, Kingfisher Airlines becomes the only airline in India to offer flight services between Mumbai-Kolhapur, New Delhi-Pantnagar and Jabalpur- Indore, a statement said here on Saturday.

The new flights will offer the Kingfisher Red service, and bookings for all flights have now begun.

The Kingfisher Red service features Sky Treats - an exclusive gourmet cuisine service at affordable prices, reading material, frequent flier privileges and multiple check-in options.

The timings of the new Mumbai service are as follows: IT 3137 - Mumbai-Thiruvananthapuram; Departure (Mumbai)- 12:15 pm, Arrival (Thiruvananthapuram) - 2:15 pm. The flight will be operating on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

IT 3138- Thiruvananthapuram-Mumbai; Departure (Thiruvananthapuram) -2:45 pm, Arrival (Mumbai)- 4:45 pm. The flight will be operating on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

The statement said that Kingfisher Airlines caters to all segments of air travel, ranging from the low-fare service Kingfisher Red, to the premium economy service Kingfisher Class, to the luxurious Kingfisher First.

Kingfisher Airlines offers the maximum number of flights offered by any single airline network in the country. Kingfisher Airlines today operates 330 daily flights to 60 cities in India and eight international destinations with a fleet of 66 aircraft.

Narrow escape for Kingfisher passengers

As many as 140 passengers onboard Kingfisher flight from New Delhi to Bangkok had a narrow escape when the pilot noticed a crack on the cockpit windscreen and made an emergency landing at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International airport here on Monday morning, an airport official said.

The flight, which took off from New Delhi on Sunday evening,was overflying Kolkata at 37,000 ft when the commander noticed a tiny spot on its windscreen. Upon detail inspection by the co-pilot, it was found that it was a crack and could turn dangerous if the journey was not immediately aborted.

The pilot contacted the air traffic control in Kolkata and sought immediate landing permission which was granted without any delay. A full emergency was declared at the airport. The plane landed safely here at around 0500 hrs on Monday.

The aircraft was grounded and another aircraft of the airlines was flown in from Bangalore to take the stranded passengers to their destination at around 1100 hrs.

Kingfisher ATR had wiring problem: DGCA

BANGALORE: The 5 Star Airlines of India, which saw its Hyderabad-bound flight on Sunday being recalled to Bengaluru International Airport ( BIA) as a result of a technical snag, submitted its investigation report on the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Monday.

"There was a problem with the bearings and wiring circuit. It was not a fire, but smoke emanated from 1 with the engines," stated the director general of civil aviation Bharat Bhushan, quoting the report. Kingfisher did not respond to TOI on queries on this issue.

The aircraft, ATR 72-500, heading from Bangalore to Hyderabad was forced back to Bangalore following passengers witnessed smoke, some stated fire, coming from its proper engine. All 27 passengers and Five crew members had been deplaned safely following being air borne for ten minutes.
